For the second consecutive year, the Vw Golf Challenge has landed in Transylvanian and Carpathian lands to cover 1500kms during our week in Romania. This was a special edition, where some historical members of the Vw Golf Challenge Morocco have taken part, creating a very familiar atmosphere that has allowed us to remember the unique character of the first editions of the Challenge.
Driving our Golfs, we have crossed Transylvania, discovering beautiful cities like Brasov, Sigishoara or Arad, but more important than this, we have traveled and crowned two of the best roads in the world: The Transfagarasan and the Transalpina. Both one and the other are authentic gems of engineering, with sections that seem to be taken from car videogames, since its successions of curves seem to be drawn from some of the best racing circuits in the world; and all with unique and exceptional views that allow you to turn the driving experience into something memorable, recording completely unrepeatable images and sensations in your brain.
The experience has been pleasant, however, the increase in traffic on the Romanian roads as well as its boom as a tourist destination have made us rethink the Romanian edition these days. So quite possibly this has been the last edition we have celebrated in this country, at least for now. The good news is that by 2020 we are already working on a new European destination that will we have no doubt will attract great interest. We will keep you informed.
